Welcome to our generic email account! The email name is Digital Academy, and the address is DigitalAcademy@gov.bc.ca.
The attached information will help you set-up the account in your Outlook. The recommended way to complete the set-up is Option 1: FYI How to add a generic email box to your Outlook option 1.msg, as it keeps all content in the DA’s sent/received folders – meaning less work for you on a day-to-day basis which makes up for the extra meeting reminders you might get.
Best practices
This can be a remarkably busy inbox. We have a few best practices we ask everyone to follow. These highlights, plus more, are listed in our DA OneNote Shared/generic email, and on Teams with the following link: How-To's
Check the inbox on a regular basis, action relevant emails, and either delete or move them to the appropriate folder.
Note the naming conventions for folders.
If you open an email and it is not relevant to you, mark the email as unread so others are aware it requires actioning.
When issuing calendar invites to large groups, disable the “request response” option. This is found in the top menu bar, Response Options drop down, unselect Request Responses.
If you require a response, please check the inbox on a regular basis and delete the automated responses.
The primary calendar is for meetings that the DA team is initiating. That is all that should go into this calendar.
We have multiple secondary calendars in this account. It is important to turn off the “reminder” option when you add your entries. You will be able to view this calendar from your personal Outlook.

Depending on your personal settings, some emails in the folders may be in “cached Exchange mode” and not immediately viewable or searchable.
There will be a note at the bottom of the list in the email folder with a link to those emails.
You can turn off the cache mode to have them show up in the folder using File > Account Settings > double click on the email name > uncheck the cache mode.
Other best practices and questions related to this email are saved in the folders starting with a 0.
