Welcome to the Digital Talent and Capacity’s (DTC) Information Hub!

Below we have executive updates, links for everyday tasks, and service information like Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), finance, travel, Human Resources (HR) support, career development and learning.

“Although our teams work remotely, our branch members are grateful to live and work across the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations and communities. There is a rich diversity of Indigenous knowledge, cultures, languages, practices across these lands; homes to which these nations have been stewards of since time immemorial, and whose presence, care and advocacy continues on today in the face of relentless systemic racism. We hope to continue to learn more about them, to address our biases, and honour the territories we are on in our branch meetings and personal learnings. 🔈 Executive updates

Happy 2025 everyone, 

I hope folks had a nice break and/or some quieter work time to over the holiday period. I’m writing with a staffing update and congratulations. Prior to the holiday break Steve Chapman was successful on a two-year TA in an Executive Director role with Social Development and Poverty Reduction. Steve will be working in their information management division as lead for Procurement and Negotiations. It’s a great opportunity to advance procurement and vendor relationship for a vital sector in alignment with our Digital Plan and Digital Code of Practice. 

While losing Steve will be a big loss for DTC and DO, I am always happy to see our team grow and stretch their wings to new challenges and adventures. I am thankful for Steve’s contributions to our leadership team, the team’s he supported, and to DTC at large. He brought the marketplace to another level of customer use, helped advance our strategic planning and branch rigor, and cared for all members of his team along the way.  

 Steve’s last day will be this Friday, January 10th. Please join me in congratulating Steve!

 At our branch meeting next week I’ll follow up on next steps for backfilling the role.

Digital Leadership Programs

The team leads the development and delivery of the Digital Era Leadership Program (DELP), an applied learning journey that helps participating ministry leadership teams improve their digital and data abilities to support the delivery of better services for citizens.

They’re currently working with Ernst & Young to design and deliver DELP.

Digital Marketplace

The team is focused on developing an ecosystem of innovation and collaboration between tech entrepreneurs and B.C.'s public sector.

Currently, they are developing the Digital Marketplace, a platform that connects government with external vendors and contractors.

Digital Talent Products

The team develops innovative applications to support the recruitment of digital talent into the BC Public Service.

Currently, they are collaborating with the Public Service Agency (PSA) to modernize and enhance the Job Store.

Digital Talent Recruitment

The team specializes in designing and implementing strategies to attract and recruit top digital talent for the BC Public Service.

Currently, they are supporting the CITZ Cybersecurity and Digital Trust branch in their efforts to recruit digital talent.

Currently, they are partnering with cybersecurity to pilot the development of connected career and learning paths for digital talent work streams.

  • Please send all invoices and invoice questions to our shared mailbox: exlab.invoicing@gov.bc.ca – this will make sure your admin can get to it asap.

  • Please ensure to “quality receive” the invoice with the following wording in your email - invoices cannot be processed without this:

I approve as QR the attached [INV#], $_______ for services rendered in [MMM] 2024.

Business Expense Approvals (BEA)

  • A Business Expense Approval (BEA) is needed when the expense is more than $30. Check the policy on Business Meeting and Protocol Event Expenses for more.

  • This includes all expenses related to business meetings, or team trainings, such as room rental audio/visual equipment, food/beverage), items purchased etc.
