    Things to Do as a Newbie

     To do in your first week

    Your first few days will include making sure you are connected to the content and systems that enable you to do your work:

    1. New to BC Public Services? Go thru the first week plan

    2. Once you setup your IDIR, ensure you have access to teams, Outlook, SharePoint and all the government portals 

    3. Map your LAN drives and confirm you have access with the Branch Administrator

    4. If you have been assigned a work mobile, ensure its all set & working

    5. Discuss your schedule and telework agreement options with your supervisor

    6. For MURAL, your respective Branch Admin will assign you a license if this is required as part of your role

    7. Use your government email to set up a Trello account (Team specific, confirm with your supervisor)

    8. You will use Time and Pay (TLAM) Employee Self Service to record your leave such as vacation and sick leave. Please familiarize yourself with the system using the TLAM Quick Guide for employees and TLAM job aids 

    9. Ensure you’ve submitted all required Onboarding HR Forms to your Branch Admins - Payroll, Union Enrollment (for included employees), Tax forms, IMIT User agreement, Standards of Conduct etc. (Required for new Regular employees)

     To do in your first month

    We will make sure you know the onboarding items you need to complete in the first few weeks of your job. As a start, check out the resources below:

    1. New to BC Public Services? Go thru the first month plan

    2. Register to Welcome to the BC Public Service sessions 

    3. Complete Mandatory trainings 

    4. Schedule Virtual Oath of Employment ceremonies 

    5. CITZ Orientation Program - Schedule of events for new employees

    6. Complete Benefits Enrollment via Employee Self Service (Required for new Regular employees)

    7. Check that you have access to eapprovals, access training here

    8. Setup iExpense account for any claim (Travel, Meals etc.) reimbursements

    9. Schedule Goal setting conversation with your Supervisor

     To do in your first 3 months

    1. New to BC Public Services? Go thru the first 3 months plan

    2. Complete Virtual Oath of Employment ceremony 

    3. Ensure you’ve registered to Canada Life (Our Benefits Provider) online to submit claims, check balances for coverage, etc. (Required for new Regular employees)
