Design guidance
We have three guiding principles that drive design decisions across our service delivery model.
Principle | Principle | Principle |
---|---|---|
Building forms should be easy
| Filling out forms should be easy | Forms are conversations that rely on trust and accountability |
To help our team build better digital products and services, we follow direction based on the following sources:
British Columbia Government Design System
A collection of digital resources and tools – including a library of reusable interface components and design patterns. The system makes it easier and faster to build custom B.C. government websites and applications. Components are collectively built by the government community, meet accessibility standards and are open for input and improvement.
IMFC Forms Standards for Forms Management and Design - PDF
The Inter-Ministry Forms Committee (IMFC) is comprised of forms designers and administrators who develop policy and procedures around the design and management of government forms, including the government's form standards. This document is a collection of form standards that provide general design guidelines and requirements for all ministry forms.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0
Following these guidelines makes content accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning disabilities, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity and combinations of these. Following these guidelines will also often make our Web content more usable to users in general.
